It's beginning to look a lot like...
Client Christmas trees and festive displays come but once a year, arriving with huge anticipation and excitement. But, before we have time to sit back and admire the joy of it all, with a glass of eggnog, it's over for another year.
Our true enjoyment comes during the early stages: seeking out inventive inspiration, creating original designs and who doesn't like decoration shopping? Hand-picking the individual trees is an acitivity that could warm the frozen heart of The Grinch.
The delivery and installation is always a magical time. Well, we say magical, but there is always a lingering doubt ... a sickening in the stomach, akin to the feeling you may have experienced before taking a driving test. Will the client still favour the colour scheme we agreed to weeks, or even months, ago?! Will the girth, branch-span and 'natural symmetry' of the tree be well received?! Healthy nerves, borne out of our dedication to making Christmas wishes come true.
From the small 4-footers forming the backdrop to office Christmas parties, to the giants welcoming visitors to Bristol's harbourside and shopping centres, we have continued to build our client list year after year - testament to our consistency and no shortage of festive spirit.
By the time the last relatives have been shipped off home and the early morning alarms have been re-set for that difficult return to work, we are mostly done. The decorations are down, the trees have been recycled and the strings of lights have been uncerimoniously boxed until some point in the future when we set about the great untangle - wishing we'd put them away more carefully.
The couple of weeks from twixtmas onwards, affectionally known as the 'take down’, is the end of five months’ hard work: designing, organising, ordering, scheduling, installing and removing. Then, during the height of summer, our thoughts slowly drift towards new, even more elaborate, bespoke colour schemes and unique festive displays...
It begins again.
